KICK-STARTING OLD TECHNOLOGY

THE PADDLE HANDLE

In the early 90’s, most truck tool boxes on the market used a very basic paddle handle. These paddle handles went many years without much change to the quality or security of the handles. Materials were cheap, and the security of your contents was limited.

Better Built decided it was time to change that.

ON THE ROAD TO CHANGE

INNOVATION BEGINS

In the early 2000′s, we redesigned the back of the paddle handle to be more secure and introduced the Static Cam Paddle Latch. This handle incorporated a fixed post welded on the back to help bolster the security of the box.

Shortly thereafter, we continued to innovate the paddle handle by introducing the Double Static Cam Paddle Latch. This handle featured a second static cam that further added security to the latch and is still found on select Better Built products today.

However, the look of the paddle handle had not changed in over ten years, so we decided to rework that as well.

REVOLUTIONIZE THE INDUSTRY

THINKING OUTSIDE THE BOX

In 2004, Better Built began the process of designing a better way to open and lock your truck tool box. We had to start thinking outside the “box.” We began by looking at the current automotive grade locks and handles for inspiration.

After working with our engineering department and vendors, we released the industry’s first pull handle. This pull handle was not only made with automotive grade security features but also had an entirely new look fashioned after familiar handles found on today’s motor vehicles.

Over the next few years, we worked hard to introduce this handle into the market. We listened to customers’ feedback to continually refine this handle and gradually, as more customers were exposed to it, the latch took off and became the only latch to have.

However, we were still not satisfied, and so we began working on redesigning it to look even better and to be even more secure.

REINVENTING THE PULL HANDLE

2012 – A NEW STANDARD

In early 2010, we decided to completely re-invent our pull handle. Utilizing some of the latest 3D CAD technology our engineering department began working on the way the handle looked, how it felt in your hand, and how smoothly and easily it operated.

Gradually, as we got the look down we started making samples with our 3D printer to see how it felt and looked in a truck tool box. After several refinements and re-prints we were satisfied that we had a final design which we were proud to offer to our customers.

In 2012, we released our Lever Action Pull Handle. This handle featured stylish looks that complemented any of the latest trucks on the market and offered automotive grade rotary latches, much like what are found in car doors, to secure the contents of the truck tool box.

Don’t be fooled by imitations or others claiming to have a new pull handle. This lever action pull handle features several patented innovations and is only available from Better Built.
