In a ceremony held at the Daws Manufacturing Company, Ellyson Industrial Park Headquarters on December 12, Joe Cundiff, Jr., of the University of South Florida, Safety Florida Consultation Program presented the U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA SHARP (Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program) Award and the Sunshine State Safety Recognition Award to H.C. Daws, President and CEO of Daws.

This marked the third successive time over a five-year period, 2003-2008 that Daws had earned the SHARP Award and its first time for the newly developed Sunshine State Safety Recognition Award.  In fact, Daws is the only Florida manufacturing company to have received both awards.

The criteria for the awards was stated as “a commitment to continuously improve the effectiveness of the Company’s workplace safety and health management system.”  Attesting to this was the fact that at awards time, Daws had experienced well over 1,200 days and 1.5 million hours worked without a lost time accident.

Recognizing the employees and management team of the company who made it happen, Mr. Daws paid tribute to them and the assistance given by Mr. Cundiff and USF for this unprecedented achievement and honor.
